Managing your communication with your target audience is a delicate balance. You want to provide them with new and interesting services and products but you want to reach them at the right time and in the right way. What marketing strategies work for you?
For me I am finding linkedin to be a valuable channel to reach my audience - still learning as I go, so at this stage just trying different things out, but there do seem to be a lot more people using it to build their brands, so I have found following others and seeing what they are doing helpful.
In my opinion having a multi channel approach is critical with marketing. Some platforms are great for brand building others for direct lead generation. The ones that have worked best for me:
- PR - Getting in the MSM never fails to get attention and often drives both brand and direct leads.
- Digital (SEO / SEM) - This is what we do for a living and drives about 70% of our online and phone leads. In my opinion it would be disingenuous to purport to be experts at marketing without getting great results for ourselves.
- Public speaking - I get asked to speak at a lot of events, being an introvert it’s something that is VERY outside my comfort zone. Speaking at events has been great for brand, lead generation and also in attracting new staff.
With every marketing strategy the key is building trust and storytelling. Memorable stories often resonate with people, by giving value in the content it also builds trust.
