We know, legal and regulatory compliance can be a real headache but it’s necessary if you want your company to continue to survive and thrive and be a top player in your industry. Care to tell us about any close calls you’ve had with this in the last year and how you faced up to it?
We’ve been trying to figure out a low impact way of setting up an ABN number in Australia - has anyone got any great resources for this?
We were recently asked for help by a small firm which had breached a law they really should have known to observe. So, our advice would be to investigate your industry and understand your legal obligations in the first instance e.g., food safety, liquor licensing, advertising standards, work safety … there are all sorts of industry bodies and information sources available to you long before you need legal support. But, if in doubt seek legal advice!
If you are in business, you must research your sector and the legal requirements to operate. Our area of service is not recognised in law, which creates confusion for customers. At the first appointment, our consent form outlines the legal status in NZ and helps to differentiate our services from those of our closest competitor. People appreciate the honesty and transparency.
Thanks for participating in the community @Kathleen_Cederman, are there any questions you have to help run your business better and I’ll put something out there.
